Sedation Dentistry in Napanee & Kingston, Ontario

If you’re worried about seeing the dentist, don’t fret, Dr. David Craig is here to ensure your next visit goes as smoothly as possible. If requested, our dentists in Kingston or Napanee offer a number of sedation and anesthesia options, including:

General Anesthesia

This form of sedation is also known as sleep dentistry. For patients who are extremely anxious or who require extensive dental work, general anesthesia will put you in an unconscious, comfortable state during your procedure.

Oral Conscious Sedation

For patients who are nervous or who need multiple procedures, oral conscious sedation is a good option. It requires that the patient take an oral sedative before their visit to the dentist's chair- so by the time they arrive, they are completely relaxed. The dentist may also add-on nitrous oxide to further enhance the calming effects of the oral sedative.

Nitrous Oxide - Laughing Gas - Dentists in Kingston or Napanee

Nitrous oxide is more commonly known as laughing gas. This will put the patient in a euphoric state where they will be completely relaxed and comfortable. The effects wear off once the mask is removed, so the patient is able to resume their daily activities once they arrive at home.

IV Conscious Sedation

IV conscious sedation puts the patient in a twilight-like state where they are groggy but completely relaxed. This sedation method reduces pain and discomfort, yet allows the patient to communicate with the dentist during the procedure. Because this sedation method is quite powerful, the patient may not remember all parts of their procedure.
